Sarah Pacini is not fashion, it is a way of style!
"Why is this collection so much more expensive than others in your store?"
We have just finished our launch of Sarah Pacini for Spring 2024 and this is a question some of you may have asked. I thought it might be interesting to do a feature on designer labels and what makes them so special.
Sarah Pacini is a stunning designer label that we have carried for several years now. Most of the pieces are $500-650.00 and are made in Italy. Other lines are also made in Italy but are much less expensive. Why is that?
Well, first of all - the quality of the fabrics used in SP are superior to anything else we carry in the store. Any Sarah piece you purchase will last you for at least a decade or more and you will likely tire of it before it wears out. The thread used is of the finest quality and there are more stitches per inch than less expensive garments. Therefore, the sewn garment will hold its shape. The trims used, such as buttons and zippers are also of the finest quality and this greatly enhances the look of the garment. Often the patterns used in these pieces are specifically designed to be placed very carefully on the fabric, so everything lines up perfectly - thus there is considerably more waste when cutting the fabric. These patterns are often cut by hand rather than by machine, which results in perfect sizing and a great deal more expense. When a detail such as a patch pocket is added, this is done in a very different way than casual garment production and it will lay perfectly flat, with no visible lining. Also, often the inside of the garment is as well made as the outside and this detail is very expensive to produce. In retail lingo these details are known as the cut, make and trim.
The fabrics used in quality garments are usually dyed to match, throughout the collection. The fabrics are not just pulled off a shelf in a factory, but are carefully selected and then matched up throughout the line to ensure perfect collaboration. The designers make certain that every garment has the correct pieces to complete an outfit and that the shapes work together. The amount of work that goes into the designing of the line is huge and often makes or breaks the collection. In the case of Sarah Pacini, a theme is chosen each season and each curated piece has a reason for being there. You will notice that SP has a distinct architectural look and you can add pieces each season that will go with your items from previous seasons. The colours chosen never fade and will retain their “new” look for many years.
The knits from Sarah Pacini are also of the highest quality. These sweaters are often delicate and intricately stitched and can be worn with multiple pieces. Additionally, a very unique and old machine is used in the knitting process of certain sweaters. This machine knits in a tubular style and eliminates seams, which is an expensive process. When these sweaters are carefully cared for, they will last for many years. The way they drape and lay on the body is always flattering and really does make the wearer look classy and well put together - even if they are just paired with jeans.
Sarah Pacini began 30 years ago in Belgium and is now made in Italy and other European countries. The workers are paid more in their factories, as they need to be true craftsmen and women, when the garments are assembled. Throughout the line, there is great attention to each detail and the finished result is pretty spectacular. You will likely never see a copy of yourself when you wear a Sarah Pacini outfit and if you do, you will know that someone else has as great taste as you do!
